Discounted tickets for job seekers
Red Funnel has teamed up with Jobcentre Plus to help registered job seekers from the Island who are looking for work on the mainland, and job seekers from the mainland who are searching for jobs on the Isle of Wight. Enjoy reduced cross-Solent travel costs for up to 18 months – ideal for travel to job interviews or for getting you to work once you find a position.
Fares for job seekers
Registered unemployed job seekers attending job interviews on the Mainland or Island will be able to travel on any sailing as a foot passenger for just £12.80 return.
The Island Job Seekers travel scheme is administered by Jobcentre Plus in Newport and Ryde. To apply contact Jobcentre Plus, complete the application form and once it has been authorised please present it to Red Funnel's East or West Cowes Ticket Office when purchasing your ticket.

Fares for new job starters
Previously registered unemployed candidates from the Island who are successful in finding employment on the mainland can apply through Jobcentre Plus for additional help with cross-Solent travel. Similarly, Mainland candidates who find work on the Island can also apply. In the first six months of their employment, eligible candidates can purchase the following Season Tickets at much reduced rates:
