If your voyage across the Solent left you keen to get back out on the water, you’ll find fantastic opportunities to do so on the Island. With over 57 miles of diverse coastline, the Isle of Wight is a natural haven for water sports. From paddle boarding and surfing to coasteering and kayaking, there are lots of ways to make a splash!

For big swells and sandy shores, head to westerly beaches such as Compton or Freshwater Bay. No gear? No Problem! You can find lessons and hire boards from iSurf with bases in Freshwater and Sandown. Dunroamin Beach in Lake is also a surfing hotspot, where you'll find Wight Water Adventure Watersports offering a variety of rentals, as well as Tradewinds Beach Cafe for tasty homemade and surf shack vibes.

Also on the West Wight is Freshwater Bay Coasteering offering a guided exploration of nearby caves and secret beaches. the adrenaline-packed sessions, aimed at ages 12+, comprise a mix of sea swimming, body surfing, rock climbing and jumping. Wetsuits and safety equipment are provided - all you need is a pair of old trainers and an adventurous spirit. For those less intrepid, low-tide sessions are also on offer for ages 8 and up.

Calmer waters, perfect for paddleboarding canoeing and kayaking, can be found at St Helens Beach - along with Tackt-Isle Adventures. Choose from muck-in group sessions, private lessons or rentals from their beach-side set up. While booking in advance is advised, you're also welcome to walk up on the day. Subject to availability. For spectacular sunsets head to Colwell Bay for your evening paddle, a sheltered spot on the Island's west coast.

Hop aboard the Needles Pleasure Cruises to get up close to the iconic chalk stacks and Victorian lighthouse, with a chance to spot dolphins along the way! Choose from a slow cruise on a traditional tour (where dogs are also welcome), or a thrilling RIB ride around the rocks. Whichever tour you choose, both are full of fantastic photo opportunities.
