What's On

Great challenges need great settings – and few are better than the Isle of Wight's coastal path.

2,000 or so adventurers will take on the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge in May over the public holiday weekend – with all out to push themselves further. The challenge starts in the south at Chale Parish Recreation Ground and runs along the spectacular southern cliffs, past the iconic Needles, and up to Cowes at halfway. For full Island challengers it’s through the resorts of Sandown & Shanklin, on to historic Ventnor, and back to the welcome base camp in Chale after an epic 106km journey.

There’s full support & hospitality all the way, with marquee rest stops, plenty of food & drink, medics, massage, camping options and shuttle buses. With three quarter, half, quarter & a 10-mile option – there’s an amazing Isle of Wight Challenge for everyone in 2025!

Getting There

By car: Catch the ferry to East Cowes and then head south on Dover Road. Take the A3021 and A3054 to Newport and then head south to Chale Green and then into Chale making your way on to the Military Road to Chale Parish Recreation Ground (Chale, Ventnor PO38 2JE). It will take about 30 minutes.

On foot: Catch the Red Jet to West Cowes. From here, follow the yellow arrows up to the pickup point at the main public car park off Terminus Road (B3325) PO31 7LT.  A shuttle service will be running at regular intervals from here to the start at Chale Parish recreation Ground on Friday 2nd May 16:30-19:30 and Saturday 3rd May 06:00 and 07:30 only.
